Dear Colleagues,

One week to go! With that being said, hold on for the ride - we have a lot going on this last week of school and we ask you all to look out for each other and support each other the best you can to finish strong and well!

With many celebrations happening next week, make sure you take time to reflect together with your students about the wonderful year of growing and learning together. Click here to view the end of year celebration video!

Thank yous and acknowledgements…
  • Congrats to Grade 2 for another rocking marketplace! We know that this is your busiest season and the effort you put into this event really shows. Special shout out to the students charging for “VIP” seats on beanbags - now that’s really mastery of the goals!
  • A BIG woohoo and thanks to the WHOLE Grade 2 team, especially Ms. Padma, Ms. Manu, Ms. Anitha and Ms. Sweety for all their help and support. More special thanks to Fiona for sharing space in the kitchen, Daphne for her cooking expertise, the Print Shop, Ms. Teena and Ms.Mary Kelly, Mr. Joseph & Ms. Kate for Origami paper, and Mr. Clinton for making the magician hats. Thanks to our friends from Grade1 & Grade3, teachers and principals for visiting Grade2 marketplace. Thank You to our ever helpful maintenance and custodial staff!
  • Thank you to the whole staff for giving your input into the upcoming ES Principal Search, and for those who put their name forward to the search committee.  Exciting things are coming our way.
  • Thank you to Finny, Vasanth, Sarah, the theater team, and the EY5 and Grade 1 teams for being flexible in adding rehearsal time for our celebration/ceremony and making this work!
  • Thank you to Joseph for getting all of the caps created and platforms decorated for the Kindergarten EoY celebration/ceremony.
  • A great big THANK YOU to each one of the ES faculty, ES Offices and also the Facilities Department for the support extended during the WIDA testing period. Student achievement was very good and there is much to celebrate!  Needless to say that without you this would not have been possible.fromt he desk of Sarah Sahr.
  • Thank you to everyone in advance for getting your students in place in the FAC ahead of the event start times.  For example, everything works more smoothly if students are seated in the FAC by 2:43 for a 2:45 start time.

PERFORMANCE

Our special EOY Celebrations will take place on Monday and Tuesday! We will be celebrating transitions from one grade level to the next, for our students who are moving to another country and for the End of the Year!

A few reminders:
For EY-1:
Please bring the students into the auditorium in TALL to SHORT order.
Please be in the seats at the assigned start time.
For GR 2, 3, 4: As usual, please bring the students into the auditorium in TALL to SHORT order.
A seating map was provided to all teachers and assistants
The rehearsals went very well this week. The run through on the morning of the celebration will be for physical movement to and from the stage with all grades 2,3,4.
GRADE 2 - will start on the stage. The assistants know their positions on the risers.
GRADES 3, 4 - start in your assigned seats.  They will enter the stage and return from the stage to those same seats.· ·
For the performance, please have the students in their seats ready to start at 1:20. This will give enough time for a water and bathroom break if needed before the start of the concert.
Leave enough walking time prior to your call time to get to the FAC and settled so we can begin promptly at the start time.
GRADES 3 AND 4: the performances will feature recorder playing. Each student must bring their recorder with them. Playing in the halls, outside or in the auditorium is not allowed unless performing.

WHAT TO WEAR:  Some classes thought it would be fun to wear AISC spirit wear.  School clothes and/or spirit wear will be fine. If the teachers have a preference, please let your children know.

After this concert, there will be class parties! YAY!!
Thank you in advance for your help.
Sarah, Finny and Vasanth

Please, no thrift shopping
This summer will be our last round of renovations - in 2019-20, we will have a fully renovated AISC Elementary! This means that none of the old furniture or supplies should be put into circulation, since it does not match the look of the renovated spaces. If you have a need for some furniture for your classroom, please contact your supervisor.

Reminiscing on School Year 2018-19
As our school year starts to come to a close, we on the Elementary Leadership Team begin to wax reflective about the wonderful year of learning and growth that we have all experienced. We appreciate our teachers’ hard work, our parents’ openness and collaboration, and our students’ bright sparks and enthusiasm for learning, sometimes through productive struggle. For the last few blogs of the year, we’ll share a few highlights from the #aiscelementary Twitter feed. Here’s to a wonderful end to a wonderful year.  Thank you for being a part of our #aiscelementary community.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Keryn Dowling, Dave Allen, and Calley Connelly
