Morning Meeting Specialist Rotation

We will start back with specialists attending morning meetings on Monday. Specialists, please reach out to homeroom teachers to see how you can support morning meetings. Here is a link to the MM rotation schedule. (And don’t read anything into the end date on the MM rotation. We know nothing about how long we’ll be in virtual. It’s just a month-long rotation as usual:)

PGE Goals

This is just a reminder as we hit the mid-year mark to collect evidence to show the work you’re doing on meeting your professional goals.

World Read Aloud Day 2022

To celebrate WRAD 2022, the AISC libraries are sponsoring One Book, One Community! On Wednesday, February 2nd, let's all read the same book with our students in celebration of the power of sharing a story! The Good Egg by Jory John will be available for simultaneous check out on Sora, beginning Monday, January 31st, and is a perfect read aloud for all ages. Please find a summary below. We hope each teacher will take this opportunity to relax with your students and share a funny story in support of WRAD! Please reach out to Babs with any questions and add any photos you take to this folder.  #WorldReadAloudDay

The good egg has been good for as long as he can remember. While the other eggs in his carton are kind of rotten, he always does the right, kind, and courteous thing. He is a verrrrrrry good egg indeed! Until one day he decides that enough is enough! He begins to crack (quite literally) from the pressure of always having to be grade-A perfect.

From the Counselors

Here are some highlights of an uplifting article about dealing with uncertainty during Omicron.  It offers some advice and ease.

Why uncertainty during Omicron is distressing….

As human beings we are wired to respond immediately to danger but when we can’t identify what we are facing we are uncomfortable.  We know we need to be prepared but for what or how long?

What we can do to make the uncertainty easier to handle…

  • Instead of focusing on the future, focus on the present. Basic mindfulness.

  • Put your strong thoughts forward…thoughts that make you feel more comfortable and inspire you.  For instance: “I’ve gotten through things like this before, and I’m strong enough to do so again.” “I have family and friends to support me through this stress. Who should I check in with?” Or “I’m just going to focus on today. What’s on the list just for today?”

  • Ask yourself what is better this time?  Such as…We have at-home kits, more vaccines, information, etc.

  • Ask yourself what worked before?  How did you manage virtual learning, lockdowns, time differences …etc,?

Have a safe and healthy weekend.
