Appreciation all around!

We can’t thank you enough for planning a wonderful transition week back to campus for your students. We also appreciate your help with logistics especially around drop off and pick up and snack, lunch, and recess. It’ll take some time for students (and adults) to remember the routine and that is okay.

We’d also like to thank the tech team for their work with setting up the hybrid technology, troubleshooting this week, and supporting us at the ES/EY gate during morning drop off.

And we certainly can’t forget the food service team, maintenance, cleaners, security, and facilities for their help with getting the campus ready for teachers and students. These teams have done so much we can’t even list it all here but to give you a sense of the scope of the work, coordinating lunch outside at the last minute took every single one of these teams to make that happen.

The communications team also deserves a thank you for the return to campus videos, photography this week, and signage around school.

We can’t forget Hazel and Padma for keeping things running behind the scenes and front and center.

Lastly, a shout out goes to Ryan M. for...just about everything!

Parent Locker

Remember to fill in your parent locker in the mornings, whether you are working virtually or if you have called in sick.

Grades 3-5 End of Lunch

When students in grades 3-5 have finished eating lunch, they need to remain in their seat at their lunch table until the bell rings. This is a time to relax and talk with friends. They may not go and play as it’s recess for grades 1 and 2. Please remind your students about this on Monday. The bell rings to signal the end of lunch at 1:08 p.m.

Mask Changing

Please have students change masks at least once during the day. We recommend a mask change after lunch recess, but please find a suitable time for a mask change.

Water Bottles in Specials

Drinking water throughout the day is important so all students can bring water bottles to specialist classes. Specialists, please think about where water bottles can be stored in your class space.

Extra Student Support Available

Great news! We have two available teachers (Kay and Vinita, a former ES substitute) on campus who are able to work with students during the day until early/mid December. They can provide 1:1, small group, or EAL support to students. Please think about your students’ needs and let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in having either teacher work with your students or if you have questions about how you could use an extra pair of skilled hands. I’d like to get a schedule together for Kay and Vinita by mid next week.

Library Hours

Starting November 8th, the ES/MS Library will be open for staff members from 8:00-5:00 every day except Wednesday, when we will close at 4:00. Looking forward to seeing you all back in the library!

EAL Coordinator

In 2022/23 the school is restructuring EAL program support, moving away from separate sectional coordinators to an EY-12 Coordinator. The job description of the role can be found here. Interested faculty should contact their principal by emailing a brief interest statement by November 10th.
