Dear all,

Thank you for another great week. It is a busy time right now, so a reminder to look around you and think ‘who might benefit from my help today?’.  Don’t forget to send us thank yous for anyone who has gone the extra mile too so we can share it out here!

·         The Grade 4 Team would like to thank Hilary and Hazel for working out the logistics for our wonderful field trip to Georgetown Marketplace.
·         From Hilary: Thank you to Marcus and Jyotsna for inviting me into their classrooms this week. It is so much fun to work with the kids!
·         Jet, Rachael, Alex and the library team for coordinating the upcoming marketplace
·         Carl, Jet, Teena, Kristina and also Jane for offering lunchtime alternate activities

Lori out
Please note that Lori will be out all next week on her visit to Tunis. In addition to Keryn, Linda and Ron, Nigel will also be more available for any needs that should arise next week.  

Duty vigilance
If you are on duty and are using your phone to check the time or to have in case you need to make an emergency phone call - no problem. However, duty is not a time to take phone calls or write emails.  Please refrain from doing this and do it in your break instead.

Upcoming PGE
Thank you to those who have already sent their PGE forms to their supervisor. If you haven’t, please make sure this is complete and email through by Friday 27th. End of year conversations will take place in the next couple of weeks.

For those of you being supervised by Keryn, Hazel has emailed you about scheduling the meetings. Lori will contact her teachers directly (via email) about setting up calendar invites.

Marketplace
Most of you have met with coaches about this, but here is the presentation as a refresher. If you have any questions about the process, feel free to check in with Rachael.

Swim Gala
It is almost time for Swim Gala, the culminating activities for the Lower and Upper ES PE Swim Unit. This year, The Swim Gala will be held on a Friday for each division. You can see the dates below and they are on the community calendar.  Each Gala will be the final day of Swimming for both Lower and Upper ES PE.
Purpose:
Educate parents about our ARC Learn-to-Swim program, showcase student progress with parent audience, give students a goal to strive for and nd the unit with a fun activity

Dates:
Lower ES Swim Gala-Grades EY5-2 - Friday, April 27th – 8:45-10:15 am
Upper ES Swim Gala – Grades 3-5 – Friday, May 25  - 8:45-10:15 am

Reporting Timeline
It’s a ways off, but this is the end of year reporting timeline that we’ll be working with.
Wed 16 May
Faculty meeting dedicated to reports (and finishing the IRC survey if need be) ; time could be used for entering proficiency levels or writing narrative comments
By Monday 21  May - 8am
ALL comments complete on google doc and given to proofing buddy **vital step
By Weds 23 May 4pm
Comments  (google doc) due to admin for final proofing
Wednesday 23 - Mon 28 May
Admin proof reports  (will return as completed)
By Monday 28 May 4pm -
Reports returned to teachers, can begin entering narratives into PowerSchool
By Wednesday 30 May by 4pm
All report information entered into PowerSchool
Friday 1 June
Reports go live to parents

Upcoming MAP Testing (Grades 2-5)
As mentioned last week, MAP testing begins on May 1st. In preparation for this, Priya and the IT team will be checking the configuration of student devices the week of April 23-27. Below are some links you will need for testing:

·         MAP Test Exemption List (No one identified so far)- This year, we’re matching the MS method for exempting learners new to English. Students who have been at AISC for less than 6 weeks and who have a composite score of less than 2.4 will be exempt. Those children can work with the EAL teacher or TA to further their language skills; they will take the test next fall. We’ll inform parents from the ES office.  
Summer Maintenance Requests
For any minor painting, specific cleaning, small maintenance tasks you may need done in your classrooms (not G2, G3 or G4), please enter them on this sheet before May 10.  Following May 10, Keryn and Lori will meet with the maintenance team to confirm and approve these requests.

End of Year Check out (repeat announcement)
All teachers must have this form checked off and signed on the last day, Saturday 1 June before checking out for the summer, which includes all library books to be returned.  Any missing resources will incur a fee, so if you are not sure where something is, please start looking for it now!

Discovery Studio Challenges (repeat announcement)
Challenge Block times are shown on Carl’s calendar. Simply email him with the block number you’d like and let him know how many students to expect. The following challenges will run for the next 2 weeks.
EY5 to Gr 2 - Students will be given the challenge of creating a marble maze. The maze should contain different kinds of obstacles and traps. Time needed is a couple of blocks
Gr 3 to Gr 5 - Students will create a simple hydraulic crane using syringes, tubing and craft sticks. Time needed is a couple of blocks.
The Studio will remain open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the grade 2/3 and 4/5 lunch recess times.

EAL WIDA Testing Grade 3-5 (repeat announcement)
The 3-5 Collab room printer will be temporarily out of USE for the next 2 weeks. Please come and print using the ES Office printer. The 3-5 Collab room will be a venue for the WIDA testing.
Specialists, please be aware that 3-5 students may be missing from specialist classes due to testing.

Withdrawing Students (repeat announcement)
If any parents informed you during the conferences that they will be not be returning for the next academic year, please pass on this information to Hazel and Padma. They can check with the parents who have not submitted the Withdrawal Form. You can refer to Withdrawal file in the links list on the right side of this blog,
