Friday, 11th November, 2016

Dear all,

Between Digital Storytelling with BernaJean and Silambam performers at this morning’s assembly, another full on week was had!  Thank you everyone for allowing disruptions into the regular day as these are not only what memories are made of, but also what allows student learning and thinking to grow and expand in so many new ways.

These disruptions will continue next week - in the form of MCT. All classes have been mailed their list of students auditioning on Monday.  See below for more information.

Auditions
  • Monday Nov 14, from 9:00 am to 11:00 in the FAC theater.  All children need to be walked over and ready by 9am. Sign up list here.
  • The maximum cast size is 50-60; so over half the children who audition will not be chosen.  Please help manage this with your children - doubtless there will be disappointment amongst those not selected.
  • Children will find out if they were selected for a part around lunchtime on Monday
  • Those selected into the cast will be needed for rehearsals for the rest of Monday afternoon.

Rehearsal Reminders
  • Rehearsals will be scheduled by role, and this schedule will be shared as soon as we have it
  • Everyone will need to be flexible in escorting children to and fro to the FAC rehearsals, and with children missing from lessons.

Performance
  • Friday November 18 at 1:30 pm for all ES students/faculty
  • 4pm for parents/public
  • The show is approximately 60-70 minutes in length – there is no intermission.

Thank you’s
  • Anna for organising the Silambam performance for today’s assembly
  • Lauren for all her work in getting the Wellness Oasis up and running for us to enjoy
  • Rachael, Fer, Anna, Lauren, Calley, Lily, Ron, Barbara and Nancy who have helped with contacting potential candidates for next year to provide perspectives on life in Chennai and working at AISC

Feedback for Keryn - as per Monday’s email - this survey will be open until Monday morning
Thanks to those of you who have already filled this out!
If you haven’t had a chance yet, I would appreciate feedback from everyone to help support my transition in as new Elementary Principal.
This feedback form has 3 questions that I’d love each of you to fill out :)

Faculty Meeting Next Week
Next meet all ES faculty will meet in the FAC Cafeteria together for a few announcements and then we will break into two groups; specialists in one and homeroom/EAL teachers in another. TAs, while you aren’t typically expected to attend sectional meetings, we’d love for you to be a part of this training.
*Specialists, please be prepared to really finalise the curriculum course/unit descriptions.
*Homeroom, EAL teachers and TAs - the Fountas and Pinnell reading kits have arrived.  Although these will not be formally replacing our reading assessment resources until next year, since many of you would like to begin using these sooner, we will be literally unpacking the boxes and exploring this reading resource together.

India Month Survey
From Bindu and Anu - you are welcome to provide feedback about the celebrations and activities from India Month.

Student Council
Toy Drive information for all to please share next week with your classes.
