A group of explorers sit on a beach, staring at the world in front of them. A city spread across the coast; a collage of futuristic IT parks, rubbled buildings and ancient temples. In the middle of it all; an oasis of learning. Over the course of 25 years, the explorers, who are resilient, empathetic, thinkers, and innovators, try to uncover what it means to truly flourish.
This original production is based on real life interviews of AISC community members, conducted and composed by senior year student Seoyoung Ryu ('21), retelling their stories of the school's impact and growth with Chennai over the past 25 years. The production features original costume designs by Anjali Seshadri ('24), Erin Sullivan ('24), Hera Kwak ('21), Kavya Krishnan ('24) and Yejin Choi ('23) and a proposed set design by SJ Lee ('22).
The show is appropriate for all ages but is suggested for Grade 3 and up.

10 New Focused Attention Practices
When students are able to achieve a calm state, they can think clearly, problem-solve, and create stronger memories of what they are learning with increased attention. Focused attention practices prepare and prime our brains and bodies to create and hold a state of relaxed alertness. Consider building new practices into your whole class, small group, and 1:1 sessions for you and your students. Adding focused attention practices to your routine will promote emotional, social, and cognitive wellbeing for all students.
From our Counselors
Have you listened to Brene Brown and the Nagoski sisters’ podcast on their book Burnout? What a paradigm shift! The reason why we are getting stressed out and stuck in a tunnel of feelings is because we haven't completed our feelings and we get stuck. There are scientific reasons for this, but the bottom line is that we need to “finish” our feelings.
Here is how to complete our feelings or stress cycle (evidence-based).
Most efficient way to complete the cycle– physical activity. Literally any movement of your body such as dancing or standing up and tensing every muscles in your body,
Breathe - slow breath in and especially out. One minute breathing exercise
Positive social interaction - this tells our body that you are safe- body gets the feeling of being home,
Laughter (the real thing),
Crying - go ahead- have a good cry.
Creative expression. The artist in you is calling. See the Wellness blog for ideas.
Best news of all!! We don't have to control the stressors - just complete the feelings! This we can do!
Enjoy the long weekend and Happy Easter to those who celebrate.
Lynn, Dave, and Elliot
