LitWeek Booky Brain Bender
Can you help make a fun game for our ES students during LitWeek 2021? Share your favorite childhood book with us on this Padlet so that students can match up their teachers to their books! I have provided a basic example, but you can feel free to drop hints and make it as creative as possible. Please let Babs know if you have any questions and thank you for helping us to make LitWeek an engaging and fun celebration!

Those of you who know me (Hilary), know that Headspace (app) is one of my many obsessions. I love everything about Headspace: Youtube channel, Netflix series (multiple), Sleepcasts, kids section for all ages, Move, Focus Music, Focus Exercises, Mindful Earth, Soundscapes, all of it!
One of my favorite parts of Headspace is The Wake Up. “The Wake Up content is designed to help members start their day on a mindful note by prompting users to take healthier actions throughout the day, focusing on five key elements of living a mindful life: meditation, sleeping, moving, eating, and playing.” (headspace.com)
And, those of you that know me, know that I’m always connecting my experiences to our students. Often, The Wake Up contains scientific research-based information on brain function that can be implemented into our instructional practice. Here is one such episode...

Suitcase of Skills - Here is an activity to help students finish strong during these final weeks of school. Use a picture of a suitcase and write down the skills and strategies they have used to be successful with virtual learning this year. Classmates can share strategies that have worked for them individually. Help students think about what others have done for them that has helped them be successful. They can add these things to their suitcase. They can decide which skills and support they want to keep with them at all times in their suitcase. They can draw a suitcase and write their skills on it and keep it near their desk. You can refer to their suitcase with questions like...what’s in your suitcase that might help you with this activity or project?
Have a great weekend.
Lynn, Dave, and Elliot
