Happy April Fool’s Day! Here are the actual notes…
We’d like to thank all of you again for such an amazing student led conference day. It took a team to make the day successful and we’d also like to thank:
Security for making the arrival process so smooth for parents
Facilities for helping with conference set up
Food service for providing the snacks for parents/students and the delicious lunch for faculty
Ryan for all of the behind the scenes work with planning for parents to be on campus
Hazel and Padma for assisting in organizing the SLC details of the day and for assisting parents
RISE was also a success this week. A shout out goes to Sherene, Archana, and Gautami for planning a hands-on experience for our students.
Upcoming Week at a Glance:
Report Card Timeline
Outdoor Mask-Wearing Optional (this is not an April Fool’s Blurb)
Given that there are no cases among students and staff and no indication that the Coronavirus is being transmitted on campus, that new cases and hospitalizations in Chennai have been notably minimal for several weeks, and that we know the probability of transmission when outside is very low, starting Monday, April 4, using masks when outdoors on campus is optional. This includes supervision duties outside for morning, snack break, and lunch recess.
Note that mask-wearing outside the entries in the pick-up and drop-off areas is required at all times.
Except for eating in the cafeterias, mask-wearing in all indoor learning and social spaces is required.
Earth Week -Upcycling Art - supervision needed for grades 3-5
Earth Week is around the corner from April 18th to April 22nd. This year elementary students will have a unique opportunity to create artwork for a great cause. They will create upcycled art projects side by side with middle school and high school students in our very own Discovery Lab during recess breaks. We need your help to supervise, however. Please sign up for one recess in the Discovery Lab. All you need to do is supervise a group of students as they create and collaborate using “clean” beach trash. NHS (National Honor Society) students will clean all items to prepare them for “upcycling”. Then, the artwork will be sold to raise funds to support a Chennai NGO that collaborates with community leaders to reinforce beach sustainability and promote creative reuse and redo! The goal of this project is to demonstrate a commitment to keeping our local beaches clean. We hope to raise Rs 15,000 for the Namma Beach, Namma Chennai Mural project. See the amazing photo above. Please open this link to sign up on the Google Document. Thank you very much for your support.
Best,
Earth Week Planning Team
