Report Card Timeline Fall 2021
Virtual Learning Report Card Guidelines
Here are the guidelines for this semester’s report card.
Report Card Comments - Google Classroom
All homeroom teachers and specialists have been added to our Report Card Comments Google Classroom. Click here for the link to the report card assignment.
Then:
1). Click the add or create button.
2). Choose Google Drive and attach your report card comments document.
3). Then click turn in.
4). We will read and make any necessary comments on your document and return it back to you.
5). You will get an email after we return the document back to you.
New Students who Joined Mid Semester
The latest date for new student arrivals to receive a full report card is Friday, October 29th. If you have students who started after this date, please write a personal, social, emotional comment and a narrative comment for any subjects that you can. Many of you may be able to write about areas of success for reading, writing, and math. These comments do not have to be as long as the comments for the other students. You do not need to mark any of the standards.
Specialists do not need to fill out a report card for students starting after October 29th. Homeroom teachers please communicate the names of these students directly with specialist teachers.
No Surprises
As you start to prepare for report card writing, this is just a friendly reminder that there should be no surprises to parents. If you plan to write a comment that there is not enough evidence to assess a student for a particular subject area, please make sure you reach out to parents now to let them know their child isn’t completing independent work and/or attending live sessions.
Students Attending Another School
If you have students attending another school who may be completing some or none of the AISC virtual work, please complete what you can for the personal, social, emotional and subject area comments as well as check any appropriate standards.
Fire Drill November 25th
Our first emergency drill will be conducted on Thursday, November 25th at 1:45 p.m. This will be a fire drill which we will evacuate to the soccer field. At the sound of the fire alarm, a series of short high-low notes, teachers should line up students quickly and quietly and evacuate the room, closing all doors. Teachers should take their emergency booklet and class roster as they leave the room and then lead students single file out to the soccer ending at your assigned grade level spot. Please review the emergency procedures for a fire drill prior to November 25th. You may find more detail about this specific fire drill here.
Birthday Celebrations
We’ve had a few questions about how to celebrate birthdays while maintaining health and safety protocols. If a student wants to bring in treats, we recommend students bring in store bought individually wrapped treats. However, homemade treats are okay too. Please have all students wash hands prior to eating. Let students choose the treat - avoid touching other people’s food - use utensils or go with the first one you touch, is the one you take protocol.
Duty Timing
Please be on time for your duty. You may need to leave your class with another adult in your grade level so you can get to your duty area on time. Safety is our #1 priority; we need adults outside to supervise at the start of each lunch/recess.
Hour of Code Sign-up (from Cassidy, Clinton, and Priya)
Hour of Code is approaching. We at AISC will be hosting Hour of Code activities for the ES section. Please find a time that suits you to bring your students to the Design Studio to indulge in some fun activities. Click here to sign up. Closer to the event we will share additional resources for hybrid students.
Extra Student Support Available - Repeat announcement
Great news! We have two available teachers (Kay and Vinita, a former ES substitute) on campus who are able to work with students during the day until early/mid December. They can provide 1:1, small group, or EAL support to students. Please think about your students’ needs and let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in having either teacher work with your students or if you have questions about how you could use an extra pair of skilled hands. I’d like to get a schedule together for Kay and Vinita by mid next week.
From our Counselors
Just a reminder to complete your snapshot of your journey during COVID times. You can write or draw. We will be displaying our journeys. Your name is not necessary on the card. You can use both sides or one side. If you have not received one or need a new one, you can stop by the ES Counseling Office and pick one up. There is a box there for you to put your finished card. Thanks for being an important part of the AISC community!
Have a safe and dry weekend.
Lynn and Dave
