We have a short week coming up. Please note the additional day off on Thursday.
No School January 28th
Thursday, January 28 has been declared a state-wide public holiday for the Thaipoosam Festival by the honourable Chief Minister. AISC’s Virtual Learning program and all campus activities are cancelled for that day.
Student Survey starting January 27th (grades 3-5)
This was the note that went to parents in the blog this week:
On Wednesday, we will email all students in grades 3-5 a survey to complete by Friday, January 29th. The purpose of the survey is to gather feedback to help your child’s homeroom teacher become more effective in the classroom. Your child will reflect on their current homeroom class. Honest, thoughtful, and careful feedback on all questions is important to us.
PGE Goals
This is just a reminder as we hit the mid year mark to collect evidence to show the work you’re doing on meeting your professional goal(s).
ES/MS Library Usage - Repeat Announcement
Starting January 18th, faculty and staff are invited to request materials from the ES/MS Library via Google forms. The library will remain closed, so please use this online form to request materials and library staff will prioritize gathering materials for delivery. All books that are returned have gone through the UV Filtration machine for sterilization. Please let Babs know if you have any questions.
Coaches Corner
Have you ever wished you could give feedback right on a piece of work in Seesaw? Here’s a hot tip about targeting feedback directly on the student work space in Seesaw. It’s possible to write your feedback right on the page. You can even record a message across multiple pages of a post. BAM!
Do you have 2 mins? Watch a very quick how to video
(Special shout out to an anonymous male, third-grade teacher for providing this tip. Feel free to reach out to him for more cool Seesaw tricks!)
From the Counselors
PEEC (Positive Education Enhanced Curriculum) offers Brain breaks for Zoom. Here is one of them you can try with your class:
“What do you look like when?”
Place your class in “gallery view” and ask students to sit with the side of their face facing the screen. Ask students to express their reactions physically using the phrase: “What do you look like when…. E.g. “What do you look like when you finish your Seesaw activities?"
After 2 seconds of silence, as a moment of facial preparation, each student faces the screen with their best facial expression depicting their reaction to the scenario described.
This might be good for humor, building community, and moving around a bit.
Have a great weekend!
Lynn, Dave, and Elliot
