Dear all,


Thank you all for your patience and thorough preparation for both our unexpected VLD this week and for student growth conferences next week! Don’t forget to reach out for help if you are finding you need it with this loss of a face-to-face instructional day.  

FYI - Keryn will be out from next Wednesday at SAISA in Kathmandu, so please see Dave or Calley should you need anything.

Vision and Hearing screening will take place on Friday Oct 18, for classes who missed it today due to the VLD. Schedule.  

Growth Conferences Format, Goals, & Structure
Next Monday (after school) and Tuesday (all day) we will be in growth conferences.  Please don’t hesitate to ask a counsellor or ES leadership for support should you think you need it. 

A few reminders:
  • The purpose of these conferences is to share the data points that tell the growth story for each child.  
  • The one page progress report that focuses on learning habits and personal/social/emotional growth will be given to the parents at this conference in hard copy to take home.  
  • Growth conferences will be 20 mins in duration; EY - G2 it is only parent/teacher; 
  • G3-5 it is parent/child/teacher.  
  • All G3-5 parents should visit the Vision Project booth set up in Preethi’s Indian Studies classroom following their conference
  • Childcare for siblings will be provided in the CIC.  
  • Only Homeroom and EAL teachers will participate in these conferences.  
  • Specialist teachers, coaches and counselors will be participating in a Seesaw PD session as well as providing supervision for siblings while parents are in a conference.
  • Please note that MAP scores will be sent home after growth conferences, and that these scores do not constitute part of your conference with parents.

Staff Snack and Lunch on Conference Days
On Monday, 14th, snacks will be available in the ES Office from 3:15 p.m., and on Tuesday 15th, school lunch will be served in the ES Cafeteria from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Cognitive Coaching
Joelle, Walter, and Andrew are organizing opportunities for you -- those who have already attended Cognitive Coaching training and those who have not -- to review or practice skills at school. This survey is to collect information from you in order to measure interest so that the best form of CC support is available. The survey will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct 16th.

CARE Visit - Wednesday
For your information, Dr. Nathan, Founder of the CARE Institute of Behavioral Sciences will visit AISC with five faculty and thirteen post-graduate students. CARE has training programs in “Learning Disability” and Counseling. You may see the CARE Group on campus on Wed, Oct 16 for an ES visit. The specific classrooms being visited have already been notified.  Please welcome them to our campus if you have a chance to meet.
