It was so wonderful to see everyone in person this week. I hope you enjoyed reconnecting face to face with colleagues and friends. We’ll work on the maintenance checklist and get a plan in place for families to pick up student work. Thank you for taking the time to refresh and organize your space.

Have you taken about a zillion Zoom screen shots this year? The yearbook crew would love to see them. Please upload any screenshots you have of your classes - homeroom and specialists included. You can rename your photo to represent what’s happening (ie: readaloud.jpg or kitemaking.jpg). There are grade level folders and then subject area folders in this Yearbook folder. New Nonfiction (Informational)
Field Day is Coming!
Virtual Field Day will be in the afternoon of Wednesday, February 24th.
Please sign up for a Teachers’ Relay Video if you are interested on this Google Form. This will involve one short meeting and you recording one small part of a fun relay video that will be edited by the PE team.
More information about the logistics of Field Day will be presented in the Faculty Meeting on 10th February.
From the Counselors
Here are 3 quick social/emotional engagement activities for students on Zoom:
Palm Tree Pose- students stand tall with their feet together and arms hanging down at their sides. They pretend they are a palm tree on a beach. Their feet are like the deep roots and their bodies are like the strong trunk. An ocean breeze lets them sway back and forth while they breathe in and out.
Heart Beat - have students do jumping jacks or something else to get their heart rate up. Then have them sit down and put their hands over their hearts. Have them focus on feeling and hearing their heart as they breathe in and out slowly.
Build Up - have students write down 3 things that they like, are proud of, or think is special/unique about themselves. You can have them put in the chat or hold up to the camera.
Morning Meeting Rotation for Specialists
The specialist morning meeting rotation ends February 12th. Next week we will add a new schedule in the Faculty Notes.
Family Use of the AISC Libraries - In Principal’s Blog (For Your Information)
Beginning today, AISC families will be able to request books every week from our libraries using this Google form. Books can be ordered through the form until Monday at 9:00 a.m. and can be picked up curbside at the ES entrance on Wednesday between 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. In addition, a book drop for returning books is positioned curbside at the ES entrance as well as at the main entrance. We encourage families to return the books after two weeks, although if a specific title is needed for a longer period, please contact Ms. Babs for an extension.
Library staff will practice all health and safety protocols while gathering your books. Upon return, books and the canvas bags that are distributed will be sanitized.
We encourage families to check the library catalog before requesting specific titles to ensure that they are available. Please let Ms. Babs know at bbarbara@aischennai.org if you have any questions.
Have a great weekend!
Lynn, Dave, and Elliot
