Emergency Drill:  Thursday 10:45 am VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This lock down drill will happen when we are at recess. It is absolutely essential you go over these instructions with your class at least twice before the drill. EVERY ES FACULTY member should respond to the drill and help lockdown children from recess. See below.

  • Our focus as soon as we hear the alarm will be on ‘silent, walking, entering the closest space quickly and efficiently’
  • Dave, Calley and Keryn will be outside with megaphones directing children
  • All EY3, 4, 5, Grade 1 teachers and the CIC team must be in their classrooms at 10:45 a.m as all downstairs classes will be the lockdown spaces
  • EY3 and 4 children will all be assembled in EY3 classes before this drill and being supervised by EY3 team
  • From OLC - enter closest EY4 classroom and lock down
  • From playground - exit in silence and enter closest EY4 classroom.  EY4 team will facilitate all children entering from playground into the three classroom spaces and lock down
  • From plaza -  exit plaza in silence and enter closest G1 classroom. (Marea’s classroom) G1 team will facilitate all children entering from plaza through the internal doors into the 4 classroom spaces and lock down
  • From covered area and ES cafeteria -  exit in silence and enter closest EY5 classroom. (Jenny’s classroom) EY5 teachers and TAs will help facilitate all children entering from cafeteria and covered area through the internal doors into the 3 classroom spaces and lock down
  • From field & FAC Cafeteria children lock down in FAC kitchen, storage rooms and HS art rooms
  • Any children in CIC lock down in place with CIC team.  CIC also collect any children from inner courtyard
  • All duty teachers are to facilitate children leaving their area as above, and lock down in place with them
  • If the students are in the restroom they should remain in the restroom if they hear the Lockdown siren alarm
  • Once all children exited from play/recess areas then assigned teachers remain with them in absolute silence until security gives all clear
  • Grade 2 - 5 teachers, TAs and other specialists not on duty, follow lockdown procedures wherever you are.  You are not to attempt to find your students until they return to you after the all clear
  • Should any students be in other areas of the school when they hear the alarm, they should immediately go into the nearest space and lock down
Once Inside the classrooms:
Lock classroom and office doors immediately.
Take cover in classroom or nearest office room.
Keep all students sitting on the floor, take cover, stay away from the door and windows and close shades/blinds if you applicable.
Prepare to take the attendance list with you along with the emergency booklet when you are directed to leave the classroom.
Ignore fire alarm activation during lockdown situation.
Project a calm attitude to maintain student behavior.
Laboratory or kitchen – Extinguish all burners (if possible) before taking cover. Stay clear of hot food or liquids or any hazardous chemicals that may spill.
Await further instructions or until the “Back to Routine" announcement is declared.
Please refer the emergency procedure booklet for additional information.
During such emergency situation our security emergency action plan will be immediately activated in order to ensure thorough safety and security of our school population by all means.
**Any questions at all regarding this please ask immediately to Dave, Keryn or Calley.

Upper elementary teachers have been emailed a form to complete regarding your selection of Vision Projects. We are really aiming to focus on skills that each teacher can bring to the collaboration. Go to the descriptions at this link, and find the survey attached. Please make your top five selections (and take one off the list, if you like!) by Tuesday, March 5th.

Gr 3 - Gr 5 Upper Elementary Art Exhibition
You are all invited to the annual "Upper Elementary Art Exhibition" which begins on Monday, March 4 and continues through Friday, March 15, 2019. Our aspiring student artists have worked hard on producing artwork for your enjoyment and reflection these past six months. Please support them by viewing their work and talking to them about it. This impressive display will be showcased at the FAC Atrium Gallery. All are welcome!
