Thank yous:
- Ms. Anita wants
to thank Ms. Jyotsna and Ms. Janna for including her thoughts about
Natural Disasters through the arts for the Learning Celebration.

all the hosting and facilitation work Mary Kelly did with Suzie Boss’
visit
- Thank you to all
teams who participated in working with Suzie Boss for their enthusiasm
towards PBL
- Jack, Sobha and
Balaji for all the planning and organisation that went into the field
days. So much fun!
- Thank you to
Becky, Amy, Ula, Amanda, Jyotsna, Janna and Barbara for letting me
(Calley) join your classes to put Number Talks into action right after
WTI. Who’s next?
- Thank
you from Jack and Sobha to everyone for making Field Days such an amazing
experience for the students! We appreciate your time given,
patience, and enthusiasm throughout the Field Day experiences. Please fill out this Feedback Survey to inform us on how to most effectively prepare
for next year's Field Day. - Sobha & Jack
- Thank
you to the second grade team for generously lending me wobble chairs!
Melissa.
SAISA Opening Ceremony
Thursday will be the
kickoff for SAISA Badminton and Tennis. At 8:30 the parade will start from the
outdoor gym, go past the locker rooms then up the stairs to the middle floor
and go from the fitness room to the end of the hall near the MS and HS offices where
it will go to the top floor, backtrack toward the science classes but cut short
and then head toward the MS before going down the central staircase to the
Unity Courtyard. (So the route is passing many HS classes that will be in use.)
As usual, we’ll be making lots of noise with drummers leading the way. There
will be a very brief welcome in the courtyard that any are welcome to attend or
watch from higher floors with the plan to be done by 8:50. Thank you!
Family Literacy Morning Reminder
Family Literacy Mornings will begin the
week of February 11th. Please make a note to remind parents of this event on
Edmodo by February 1st (today) and the day before your grade’s session.
These will
all be from 8:45 - 10:15 (start and finish in Madras Hall) with parents in the
classrooms around 9:10 - 9:35 am.
PBL resources
In the spirit of Suzie Boss’s visit,
there are two videos below about Project Based Learning that might interest
you! Thanks to Jessica for sharing.
Mid year PGE reflections - optional
conversation
At this time of year, mid way through
your goal cycle, we encourage you to make some mid year reflections on the
progress you have made on your professional learning goals. If you would like
to process this with your supervisor, you are welcome to make an appointment
via Padma/Hazel.
Student Led Conferences and Progress
Report
An early heads up these are coming on
March 14. As with the Growth Story conferences earlier in the year, we will be
giving parents a one page progress report card which will include learning
habits and a personal, social and emotional update comment (paragraph). A
timeline for writing and proofreading of these will be shared next week.
Hey Attentive Readers! Win a Coffee!
Thanks all for reading. Today’s
mystery question is ‘When is Waitangi Day, and why is this important to Keryn
(and Tara?)! First three people to respond here win a complimentary beverage from the iHub. And congratulations to Morgan, Hilary, and Kristina who noticed that “P
is for Playground” is a phonics-teaching misstep because of the /pl/ sound in
playground.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Keryn, Dave & Calley
